Upholsterer (Cutter), ideally suited for a Development Upholstery
Location: NG2 4EU
Salary: £14.00–£17.00 per hour (Negotiable based on experience)
Hours: 7:00–16:00 Monday to Thursday, 7:00–14:00 Friday
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Contract Furniture Group, a leading supplier to the UK hospitality sector, is looking for a skilled and self-motivated Furniture Cutter to join our development upholstery team. This role is ideal for someone with a background in upholstery looking to specialise in cutting and development work, playing a key role in bringing new product concepts to life.
Key Responsibilities:

Accurately measure and cut a variety of fabrics, vinyls, and leathers for bespoke and production upholstery.

Interpret technical drawings and templates for both standard and development items.

Collaborate with upholsterers, sewing machinists, and design teams during the prototyping process.

Assist in the development of new patterns and cutting methods for improved efficiency and consistency.

Maintain quality and precision across all cutting work.

Keep cutting area organised and materials managed efficiently.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
-
Minimum 5 years’ experience in upholstery or cutting, preferably in a commercial or contract furniture environment.

Strong technical understanding of fabric behaviour, grain direction, and stretch characteristics.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on development projects.

Previous experience with fabric and leather cutting (manual or CNC an advantage).

Great attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving approach.

Willingness to contribute ideas to improve processes and workflow.
Desirable:

Pattern making or templating experience.

Understanding of upholstery construction and sewing methods.

Development/prototype experience.

Background in fast-paced production or piece work environments.
